THE SOLAR HOUSE

The Solar House is a space that provides NYC restaurant guests an indoor dining environment while in an outdoor setting. It features warm lighting, USB charging docks on every corner of the table, and the seats and walls are cushioned to provide comfort.

FORM STUDY

My goal when concepting The Solar House was to design a space that felt private and could seat a single guest or a small party, while adhering to NYC outdoor dining guidelines.

This final form focuses on simplicity and comfort. It’s designed to be modular. I also wanted it to have the ability to be a single unit or part of a set to accommodate more guests.

RENDERINGS

Solar energy is collected by the solar panels and stored in batteries located under the seats. The energy is used by the interior lights and the USB charging docks on the sides of the table. It can power electric heaters that provide warmth during the colder months.

Green spaces were added to the sides of The Solar House for ease of maintenance and to bring the green space to eye level for the guests to enjoy.
