ERGONOMIC GAMING MOUSE
Video games have transformed into a very popular sport with large arenas and a very large fan base. In these competitions, only professional gamers, people whose full-time job is to game, compete for money.
Competitions can last a few days to a few weeks. Gaming for extended periods of time puts a lot of stress on players’ wrists. With that in mind, I designed a mouse that can both meet gamers’ needs for competitions and reduce the stress put on their wrists throughout the competition.
CASE STUDY
Existing gaming mice give a small form of comfort but not what is needed for the professional gamer, who often suffer from wrist injuries such as carpel tunnel syndrome that occurs from the poor wrist mechanics that most mice offer.
In this position, the wrist is in its natural resting state, most ergonomic mice that are on the market today fit this shape but they are bulky and lack the precision that professional gamers would need.
NEED ASSESSMENT OPPORTUNITY
After exploring the current options in the market for ergonomic mice I found key features to be upgraded:
Standard ergonomic design is not focused on gaming
Lack of programmable keys that would help a gamer’s reaction time during intense gameplay
Missing a comfort grip
LED lights
IDEATION
I created a design that would be more attractive to a gamer, by providing them key features such as
Ergonomic design
Comfort grip
Programmable keys
Extra keys
Sleek design
They can minimize their chance for injuries
RENDERINGS
Razer is a possible brand that could highlight the importance of this design due to their ties to gamers and brand aesthetics, soft plastic would be where the palm would connect with the mouse in order to provide a more comfortable grip for long hours of practice or long tournaments
